Economic outlook is very important (1999). If a nation does well in at least two categories, its currency will be in demand and traders call the demand a "strong" currency
(1999). But having been labeled a strong currency is not necessarily good (1999). The reason is because in trading, having a weak currency might even be advantageous as it attracts
tourism, for example. In light of this information, how has the U.S. dollar fared? In order to look at the exchange rate, a student writing on this subject must
understand that it has to be compared to something else. For the purpose of illustration, the U.S. dollar will be evaluated for the past couple of years as compared with
the British Pound. On November 3, 2003 one U.S. dollar was equivalent to 0.595735 Pound ("Historic," 2003). Last year, on November 4 2002 one U.S. dollar was equivalent to
0.643294 British Pounds (2003). On November 2, 2001, one could trade in a U.S. dollar for as much as a 0.684229 British pounds (2003). The U.S. dollar is declining
in terms of the exchange rate with British currency. In order to properly evaluate the U.S. currency y to see if it has indeed declined, one would have to look
at it against all currencies. Quiggin (2003) confirms that the U.S. dollar has been devalued against all currencies. Hence, the evaluation against the British currency is typical for the past
