teachers can benefit students in difficult learning environments. Teachers are not just individuals who introduce subjects and test student progress; educators are people who can facilitate learning and encourage the growth and development of children. I believe that teaching as a profession has many rewards as a result of the interactions between students and teachers. I also believe that children should be the central focus of state and national efforts towards social improvement. Throughout the country, children are struggling with basic literacy and the No Child Left Behind Act was recently initiated in response to questions of the viability of existing learning models. I think one of the greatest challenges for modern educators is to develop effective plans and strategies for teaching difficult learner populations, including an increasing number of students with limited English language proficiency in urban school settings. Teaching is one of the most challenging professions, and changes in the demographic composition of learners and in the directives for state and federal educational outcomes have defined even greater challenges for educational professionals. As a result, I believe I have a number of important skills to offer that would enhance any educational environment. For example, I have learned the importance of both teaching and learning, and believe the educational environment should be one that is cyclical and developmental in nature. Schools are not static entities in which traditional models are the only way that children will integrate necessary skills and knowledge; schools are fast becoming places of reciprocal learning, where both educators and students benefit from the development and redevelopment of educational vision and goals.
