aspects and consequences for archaeological research" (p.136). The information relayed suggests that the study of archeological sties can aid in the understanding and knowledge of Ancient Egypt and her culture.
It is through site reports and a current understanding of the sites that provides meaning in a cultural context. Obviously, historical information has merit, but using the sites themselves as
evidence of the past can open new doors to profound interpretations of Ancient Egyptian life. In general, Egyptologists make cultural analyses based on their particular traditions (Bard & Shubert,
1999). In other words, those who study Ancient Egypt often draw on what was done before, and add to it, as any historian might, but in doing so they miss
opportunities to truly study sites and understand them on their own merit. Each researcher has the opportunity to see sites in all their glory and make observations based on
their own perspective in the current time and place in which they live. This does not mean that former excavations should be thrown out, but rather each should be understood
in context and for its own particular worth. It is not that one builds on the other, but rather each unique perspective adds something to the literature. Studying original archeological
