Please Introduction While there has been deep study and analysis of literature an even film for many generations, it seems that all video text has not
necessarily been given the attention needed in relationship to analysis and the teaching of analysis in classrooms. In a world that is quickly becoming largely visual it seems important to
include analysis of such texts in the system of education. As one author notes, "some observers predict cinema and TV will disappear into an omnipresent video culture of the future"
(Mayer 71). With this in mind the following paper examines and discusses an essay by Robert Scholes, On Reading a Video Text and his theories concerning the analysis of video
text. The Importance of Analyzing Video Text The question being posed by the student requesting this paper is why does Scholes feel it is important that people have
