the ranks, get their undergraduate degrees and then obtain even higher degrees. Often, the pressure to do well in higher education is steep, and some students feel as if cheating
is their only way to an advanced degree in society today. This is true especially for students who may also be working either full time or part time and find
it hard to study adequately. Other situations concern students who are really not truly qualified but try to get an advanced degree anyway. They may have done okay on their
entrance exams to whatever institution they have applied, or maybe their grade point average was stellar but it was achieved at an easy school. It may be that the student
comes from a wealthy family where his or her parents attended a prestigious school, and it is tradition that this individual also obtain a degree from a particular institution. There
are many reasons why individuals pursue degrees, and many situations where people find themselves tempted to cheat. Whatever ones situation, attending an advanced school such as a dental school, usually
comes with a great deal of pressure. Many students in a variety of school categories face ethical quandaries and research demonstrates that many students choose to cheat (Kleiner &
Lord, 1999). In a recent survey, 80 % (1999, p.55) of students in high school, who were incidentally high achievers, have admitted to cheating at least once. One can
however say that some students cheat once or twice because almost the entire class is doing it; there are instances when cheating seems to be rampant, especially when a particular
