that concept a reality. One would think that on one hand, it is unfair to make the employer wait for the return of his worker, but on the other hand,
employers often treat their workers poorly. They do not care about hiring and firing workers, even though their decisions impact families a great deal. FMLA steps in to help
families that have problems and even allows for parents to take enough time to bond with their newborns, and even when those babies are adopted. The Family and Medical Leave
Act of 1993 provides the allowance of temporary leave for medical reasons under certain conditions ("The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993," 2007). Under subsection 103, eligible employees are
allowed to leave work for a total of twelve weeks during a twelve month period of time due to the birth of a son or daughter or a number of
other reasons ("The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993," 2007). Other circumstances include the placement of a son or daughter in a home, or if the employee must be
home to care for a sick parent, child, or spouse ("The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993," 2007). For example, someone who has a spouse who is dying may
want to take some time off to spend with that individual and care for them. Similarly, an aging parent with a serious illness may requisite extensive care and even to
