1929, had global repercussions, just as the latest financial meltdown did. However, the 1929 crash (thus far) seems much more severe. This paper explores the effect of the crisis on
the Latin American nation of Peru. Discussion The sources are oddly divided on just how great the impact was on Peru, with some saying it was dramatic and others saying
it was not. Well see if we can sort it out, at least to some degree. Economics: The 1929 crash and subsequent Depression affected the whole world, but the impact
in Latin America was either extremely damaging or not too bad, depending on the source. A document from the "country studies" found in the Library of Congress is one of
the ones that seems to be on the "not too bad" side of the issue. This history notes that until the mid-20th century, most of Peru was agrarian, with most
of its economic growth coming from exports, including silver and guano (Peru - History of the economy). The Peruvian economy, like much of the rest of Latin America, was an
"open economic system with little government intervention and few restrictions on either imports or foreign investment" (Peru - History of the economy). Then, when the stock market crashed in New
