However, it is often forgotten that nature can have a far more devastating and influential impact. One of natures most powerful features is that f the volcanoes. From Ancient Rome
with the destruction of Pompeii, to the more recent eruption of Mount Saint Helens in Washington State, US, we have been shown the impact that the eruptions have on life
around the volcanoes. Despite this there is little attention paid to the way that these massive events may impact on the climate. Volcanoes are a natural feature of the land,
and it is known that many climatic events, such as hurricanes (Borron, 2002). Changes in the climate have also been associated with the eruption of volcanoes, for example, the work
of one leading scientist from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography; Dr. Gerald G. Kuhn, has demonstrated that the climate in Southern California will be able to feel some effect of
some of the eruptions that take place half way around the world. An example of this followed an eruption in Indonesia, where Krakatoa is located. After the eruption there
was an impact on storms that occur in the eastern pacific, these storms will originate just off of the western coastline of Mexico and will usually move out towards the
open sea where they do not create any measurable harm (Borron, 2002). However, a phenomenon that was directly linked to the eruption was seen roughly twelve months later, when one
of the storms was directed northwards towards San Diego rather than out to sea. The resulting hurricane left a trail of damage (Borron, 2002). However, we can argue that these,
even though important are not global events, and that it would take many of these to impact on the global climate, However it does prove that the eruption of these
