boats, less attention is given to the damage caused in their manufacture. By looking at the materials that are used, it is possible to see that the boat building industry
must rank low on any green scale. This is especially true when looking at the total life cycle of the materials, this means not only the immediate use, but the
creation and post use properties, such as ability to be recycled. There are a range of material used. The main material is that of fibreglass or Glass reinforced plastic
(GRP), but other materials will include resins, wood, PVC and PVC foam, aluminium, steel as well as the materials which may be used fir furnishing dependant on the design and
taste of the builders/owners. The major constituent is that if fibreglass or glass reinforced plastic. This is a product that is seen as unfriendly to the environment. It is
strong and has many benefits, such as being light and easily formed into the required shapes. But it is also a poisonous substance, which is a skin irritant and can

the environment, However, there are some plus points to this use. The making of fibreglass may make use of other waste products, such as green glass, and as such is
