topic of terrorism has been in the public eye for some time now, there has not necessarily been a lot of talk, or information, concerning the funding of terrorism. It
may be that some people simply assume that the terrorists are funded by the members and their particular wealth or income, or perhaps through underhanded government contributions to particular causes.
But, the truth is that in many cases the various terrorist groups are often funded illicitly through such things as cigarette sales, drug trafficking, human trafficking and even the illicit
selling of antiquities. The following paper examines information which discusses various forms of illicit funding of terrorism and terrorist groups. The Illicit Funding of Terrorism As mentioned, cigarette
sales are often one of the main sources of revenue for terrorist groups. "The illicit sale of cigarettes and other commodities by terrorist groups and their supporters has become a
crucial part of their funding activities" (Billingslea, 2004). It appears as though the increased amount of taxes on cigarettes in most areas is what is giving many terrorists their money
as they will obtain the cigarettes wholesale and then sell them, making a huge profit. And, while one may think that the profit may not be a lot, according
