some theorists see a direct connection, others see the wars as separate and independent. Although such premises are controversial, when viewing the causes of the war, it seems as if one flows into the other. Essentially, it seems as if the job was not completed in the first war and so there was a second. The situation is similar to the impending conflict in Iraq as the war in the early 1990s left Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein alive to create more problems. There are in fact lingering issues in Iraq today. Similarly, World War I did not have the sense of closure that did the Second World War. Although after WWII there were worries about communism, that fear could be contained. There would be no large wars for the remainder of the century. Hence, WWI and WWII were ideological twins and should be viewed that way. One part of the Second World War that is well known is that Naziism was for the most part eradicated. Sure, neo-Nazis crop up, but the mass annihilation of Jews was an unfortunate situation that is over. In discussing this topic, one sees that while this was a WWII issue, anti-Semitism was a part of the WWI time period and inherent in Europe. Also, Fascism was something that was fought ideologically. In order to proceed in developing the relationship between the two wars, it is important to note the difference between Fascism and Nazism. The terms are often confused, but Fascism is really just a system of government. It generally involves a powerful force and a people who are oppressed.
