has to be the location and accessibility. If the centre is to help new immigrants in needs to be located geographically within that community, so that it can be reached
easily. For the immigrants that are a long way out some type of complimentary shuttle service may encourage attendance. The centre itself also has to be welcoming, this will mean
an open entrance with easy to gain access, a single storey building may be less intimidating and a nice clean look, with plants outside to soften corners, lighting needs to
be clear so that there is also a feeling of security and safety after dark. The spaces also need to be welcoming, with warm colours and if the area is
hot, with air conditioning. The direction and signposts need to be clearly marked and in the relevant languages, not just English. There will also need to be the support facilitates,
such as a subsidised canteen to provide food and drink and a common room or relaxation area where the learners can interact socially. The greater the overall interaction the better
the prospects for economic improvement (Lewin-Epstein et al, 2003). Once we have a centre, that is welcoming and in an easy to access area, including parking, then the facilities
need to be considered. Here there is a requirement for a range fo facilities to suit the learning needs. In the 1950s Steven Coreys under took "action research", it was
