He is dying of gangrene and is anything but pleasant as he moves in an out of a rational mind, trying to come to understand what his life has been
about and what it has all been for. Through this examination we also see a picture of a husband who has perhaps not been a husband but rather a leech
who has only married for money and status. In the following paper we examine the manner in which Hemingway presents this husband in "The Snows of Kilimanjaro." The
Husband in "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" Hemingways husband introduces himself as a man who is truly on the verge of death, a man who has little patience for lies and
pretenses. We note this when he talks to his wife, arguing with her about a drink: "I dont give a damn about the truck. I do. You give a
damn about so many things that I dont. Not so many, Harry. What about a drink? Its supposed to be bad for you. It said in Blacks to avoid all
alcohol. You shouldnt drink" (Hemingway heming.html). We can see that, at the very beginning, that he has little patience for this woman who is his wife. The conversation continues and
he tells her that he never loved her when she asks: Dont you love me?" to which he replies "No...I dont think so. I never have" (Hemingway heming.html). She claims
that he is out of his head and he tells her "No. I havent any head to go out of" (Hemingway heming.html). At this point we know that he is
