Essay / Research Paper Abstract
12 pages in length. In what has seemed like the blink of an eye, scientific technology has advanced the human race at such breakneck speed that scientists are forever attempting to outdo each previous discovery with a bigger and better replacement. Such is the case with the fantastic discoveries for which the Hubble Space Telescope has been responsible during the twentieth century. Had it not been for the creation of such a monumental piece of scientific machinery, the world would not have acquired the mountain of information, photographs and previously unknown details that have come forth over the last decade. Indeed, the proficiency of the Hubble Space Telescope has allowed mankind to delve far beyond the confines of conventional boundaries in order to encourage further exploration of outer space. The writer discusses revolutionary and evolutionary aspects of the Hubble Space Telescope. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

have come forth over the last decade. Indeed, the proficiency of the Hubble Space Telescope has allowed mankind to delve far beyond the confines of conventional boundaries in order
to encourage further exploration of outer space. Inasmuch as the Hubble Space Telescope has been instrumental in identifying various concepts of existence, it has successfully challenged what was previously
considered a sound and reasonable theory of creation. "The Hubble Space Telescope has sent new data which has astrophysicists rethink their concept of the formation of the universe.
The data concerns the peak in 2 star-formation in the universe during its formation and the great number of black holes in the center of galaxies" (Hardersen, 1997, p. 26).
I. THE EVOLUTION OF THE HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE One man has been credited throughout history as being the fundamental motivating factor behind the development of the Hubble Space Telescope.
Edwin Hubble believed right down to the depths of his soul that planet Earth was nothing more within the vast universe than the equivalent of a grain of sand
in the Sahara Desert. Eager to dispel what the ancients had forever construed the purpose of the universe -- to be a "glittering celestial framework for the human race"
(Parshall et al, 1998, p. PG) -- Hubbles quest was to prove that such thought was merely humanitys conceit. Indeed, he thought, it was particularly obvious that Earth was
