who was not what they considered to be of the perfect race. It was a horrendously vicious time wherein people of all races and cultures, primarily the Jews, were destroyed
in many horrific ways. One of the groups of people that the Nazis focused on, aside from the Jews, were the handicapped individuals. These people were not considered perfect by
any means and there were active designs to essentially eliminate all handicapped individuals who would do nothing but breed more imperfect individuals. The following paper examines the Holocaust and their
designs and actions involving the handicapped people. The Holocaust and the Handicapped One author notes "Wartime, Adolf Hitler suggested, was the
best time for the elimination of the incurably ill. Many Germans did not want to be reminded of individuals who did not measure up to their concept of a master
race" (The Murder of the Handicapped, 2006). Clearly such an opinion, such an approach, involved many people who were not perfect, were not of the master race design. As it
relates to the handicapped, the mentally and physically handicapped were consider "useless" in society and were perhaps seen as less than Jews in many respects (The Murder of the Handicapped,
2006). They were seen as "a threat to Aryan genetic purity, and, ultimately, unworthy of life" (The Murder of the Handicapped, 2006).
It is noted that the true foundations of killing the handicapped began in 1933. "Enlisting the help of physicians and medically trained geneticists, psychiatrists, and anthropologists, the Nazis developed racial
