recent invention as is the Internet. The computer has its roots a bit earlier in the twentieth century, but the Internet would have its start in the 1960s. It all
started in August of 1962 at MIT when JCR Licklider wrote a series of memorandums about the possibilities of networking (Leiner, Cerf, Clark & Kahn et al., 2006). He pictured
a network that would ultimately be global (Leiner, Cerf, Clark & Kahn et al., 2006). This insight was truly remarkable. After all, computers were just beginning to become known to
the public and the concept of the Internet had not been discussed. Licklider would begin to talk about something he termed the Galactic Network (Leiner, Cerf, Clark & Kahn
et al., 2006). It was something where everyone would be able to access data from any site, anywhere in the world (Leiner, Cerf, Clark & Kahn et al., 2006). In
effect, this vision was what the Internet is today. Yet, there is no one inventor of the Internet. The Internet actually emanated from a variety of sources, including government
agencies. Yes, perhaps Al Gore gets a tiny bit of credit to that end, but largely, the Internet which has changed life as it is known, had emanated from the
history of Silicon Valley. The 1970s ushered in the Silicon Valley phenomenon. The name Silicon Valley was first used in 1971 as journalist Don Hoefler began to make use of
this new creative term in some of the articles he had written (Loudon, 1998). It was a term that would take off, and be used to categorize the semiconductor-industry (Loudon,
