when one sees it. One knows when something is historically significant. For example, when one mentions the building of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York or the signing of the
Declaration of Independence, or even the toppling of the World Trade Center, one can say that these things are historically significant. Why? Each of these things are well known, have
folklore attached to it, have exciting facts that are significant and also, each changed the future immeasurably. To be historically significantly, something has to be relevant not only for the
time period, but for the years to come. Such things have to change life as it is known or to inspire change. In looking at the French Revolution, one is
inspired by it. It was a grass roots movement that had gotten way out of control, but for the betterment of the people. It occurred just after the American Revolution,
something that was surely historically significant, but what made both revolutions truly relevant are the documents attached to them. In the United States, the Declaration of Independence was very significant
but so was Paynes little booklet called Common Sense. It was a period of time at the tail end of the Enlightenment era and one where fruitful writing came
about. In exploring revolutionary France, one can say that certain writings and events were historically significant. Quite significant was the booklet called "What is the Third Estate?" by Sieyes
as were the documents such as the "Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen" and the "Declaration of the Rights of Women" in addition to the
trial of Louis XVI. According to the Sieyes pamphlet "What is the Third Estate," a nation needs private activity and public service (Baker, 1987). In fact, there are a
