and its relationship to blood pressure. Yet, authors confirm that there is a medical basis for the idea (Rowan & Schrader, 2001). Indeed, many practitioners agree that garlic is good
for the system as are other kitchen cupboard ingredients. Of course, it is not a panacea. Garlic can cause blood thinning and this can be harmful for someone already taking
blood thinners. Yet, for the general public, it is a good choice. Garlic or Allium sativum happens to be a part of the lily family (Bauer, 2007). It is
closely related to the onion and has been used for many years to treat ailments from snake bites to tumors to alleviating high blood pressure (Bauer, 2007). While not proven
or thought to have only modest benefits for the following conditions, it may relieve nausea and also can help to fight cancer (Bauer, 2007). Its use in lowering cholesterol and
fighting high blood pressure however is documented. How is garlic used exactly? Garlic is usually best administered by mouth through consuming it raw (Bauer, 2007). Yet, that is impractical for
many people, or at least distasteful. It can also be taken in the form of a pill (Bauer, 2007). One study for example had been published in the British Journal
of Clinical Practice, noting that garlic supplementation had been able to significantly reduce blood pressure, when the hypertension was mild (Rowan & Schrader, 2001). Additionally, there has been research supporting
the notion that not only does garlic help when it comes to blood pressure, it affects cholesterol in a positive way (Rowan & Schrader, 2001). Garlic is thought to raise
