society in relationship to racial equality. In the past many forms of legislation were implemented to protect the rights of racially diverse people and in order to offer the racially
diverse citizens a chance at things like higher education and employment. Today, however, that does not seem to be the case as most people assume that racial inequality does not
exist. The truth, however, is that racial inequality still exists, albeit in very subtle and often difficult to define situations. With that in mind the following paper examines whether or
not the government should be involved in working towards ensuring racial equality. The paper suggests that it is perhaps the duty of state governments, not the federal government, to truly
find problems and remedy racial injustice. The Government and Racial Equality While the federal government has done many things in the past
to ensure equality of the races it seems that there are still some very serious issues concerning racial injustice and racial inequality in the nation. One of the most obvious
forms of political implementation that involves ensuring equality is Affirmative Action. While it is a federal concern it is also something that each state possesses on its own and many
states are doing away with Affirmative Action as they assume that it has done its job and people are now equal, regardless of race. However, even in relationship to just
this one approach to racial justice there are many sides, and many complications. With Affirmative Action there are many who argue it
is necessary to ensure that people are not treated with prejudice when looking for work, a home, or an education. But, there are those who argue that it gives some
