called Jesus. Jesus was more than man; He was eternal: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with
God in the beginning" (1:2). In the last sentence, John is referring to Jesus who was with God during the creation, in fact, Jesus was active in the creation; He
was the source of life and light: "Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was
the light of men" (1:3-4). It was only through Jesus birth as a Man that people were able to know God: "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling
among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth" (1:14) and "No one has ever
