came to an end. THE EARLY YEARS Walt Disneys life was a fascinating journey. His ability to succeed was based on an odd combination of affirming traditional values of
his early childhood years and his rebellion against the discipline and austerity of his Midwestern upbringing (Kurtz, 1998). Having a talent for drawing, Disney was able to earn money
by doing s for newspapers and advertisement. He left home in 1919, at the age of 18 and found work at a commercial art studio in Kansas City (Kurtz,
1998). When he was laid off in 1920, he started his own shop which failed within a month (Kurtz, 1998). Disney started working for Kansas City Film Ad Co,
and was fascinated by the process (Kurtz, 1998). It was here that he created some humorous cartoons in his spare time. Then once again in May, 1922, he
tried being in business for himself with the founding of Laugh-O-Gram Films (Kurtz, 1998). Laugh-O-Gram Films went bankrupt in 1923, so Disney headed for Hollywood (Kurtz, 1998). CALIFORNIA SUCCESS/GOLDEN
