the Renaissance, the industrial age and numerous other eras so why should the so-called scientific/technological society be any different? Belief in God is faith and faith is internal. If an
individuals faith can be changed by the external environment, the faith was not strong and stable in the first place. In other words, it was not true faith. Faith in
God does not diminish because science or technology advances. Faith, however, could well be strengthened because of these alleged advances. In "8 Spiritual Heroes," Brennan R. Hill describes the lives
and the faith of eight people who lived by their faith and demonstrated enormous courage doing so (2002). The list is diverse: Mahatma Gandhi, Edith Stein, Martin Luther King, Jr.,
Dorothy Day, Archbishop Oscar Romero, Pierre Tielhard de Chardin and Daniel Berrigan and Mother Teresa of Calcutta (Hill, 2002). The lives of these individuals supports the premise that faith is
possible in any environment and under any type of condition. These names are well-known at least by many people but there are also those heroes who go unnoticed but who
live by faith and have a direct impact on the lives of all they meet. William OMalley, a Jesuit priest, demonstrates in his book, Does God Exist God: The Oldest
Question, that yes, God does exist 2000). OMalley seems to be addressing his comments to doubters by sharing his own search over the years (2000). He concludes, of course, that
God does exist. This paper is just not long enough to discuss the evidence for and against having a belief in God. Instead, I will offer only a few pieces
