look at fictional characters that delve into non fiction perspectives concerning management and business. Being that it is a novel it is a book that pulls the reader along in
a way that would not occur were it merely a work concerning economics and business management. As such it is an entertaining work but also a work that can prove
incredibly valuable to the business individual who is looking for innovative ways to address problems, or in seeking success. The following paper first summarizes the work and the provides a
reaction to the novel. The Goal: Summary The main character in the story is Alex Rogo. Alex is a man who is experiencing some problems in his job.
He is a plant manager and not only is he having troubles with production and success at work, his personal life is suffering as well. This is the foundation of
the story in the beginning and as Alex tries to figure out what to do and where to go with his life and his work he comes back in contact
with an old friend who presents him with a potential solution. His friend essentially introduces him to a theory called the Theory of Constraints. This particular theory relates to the
notion of a bottleneck wherein things are constricted and perhaps refined in a sense. Alex sees, through this theory, that the first thing he must realize is that the purpose
of any business is to essentially make money. While many people take this for granted, it is important to consciously begin any study of change with that in mind and
