paper offers a book report on this novel while also discussing the ideas and beneficial perspectives of the work. The Goal In "The Goal" by Eliyahu Goldratt and
Jeff Coxs book the reader is presented with the story of Alex Rogo, a man who is a plant manager and a man who is experiencing decline in the plant
and in his personal life. While in the midst of confusion about what to do next and where to go he discovers, through an old friend of his, the Theory
of Constraints. This particular theory relates to the notion of a bottleneck wherein things are constricted and perhaps refined in a sense. What Alex does, through an understanding of this
particular theory, is first to realize that the purpose of the business is to make money. That perhaps goes without saying but it is obviously a very good place to
start in accessing any problems. It also involves discovering what is wrong, or what needs to be changed in order for money to be made. The theory examines throughput, which
is "The rate at which the system generates money through sales" (Goldratt; Cox). It involves a look at inventory as it involves intentions to sell, the cost of operating the
business, and lastly the need to address how much product should be put out in order to meet the demands. In other words, the company should really only put out
