Transformed in a Rainforest World he delves into many various aspects of their culture from an anthropological perspective. The following paper summarized and analyzes chapters 5 through 8 of his work. Chapter 5 In this chapter Knauft examines the sexual behavior and sexual practices of the people. For the most part he seems to focus primarily on the practices of the men. In the beginning of the chapter he illustrates how he felt he "wasnt sure" that some of the Gebusi men practiced homosexuality in some form, but that without proof he could not make such a claim, or argue against such a claim (Knauft, 2005; 70). As he became more and more accepted by the men in the group he did, however, learn that semen, received by younger men through oral sex, was considered to be something of a powerful element that would allow them to grow into strong men themselves. He illustrates how men, once married, seemed to generally not engage in such practices but that there was a very wide sense of diversity in how men acted, behaved, and engaged in sexual activity with other men. His wife engaged in studying the women of the group and when she asked them if they ever engaged in sexual activity with other women they were generally quite confused as to how such a thing could be done and essentially demonstrated that men were for sexual activity, not women. There was also the attitude that indicated the women were not upset if their men were involved sexually with other men but that sexual activity with another woman was something to be very dismayed at.
