Librarian at Rice University from 1993 to 1996, during the time that the site was being created. The project and website is currently being supported by the Office of
the Vice President of Computing at Rice University and the early stages of the project were created in conjunction with the Fondren Library, both of Houston, Texas. The site
was last revised in 1995, by Dr. Van Helden. The authors credibility in regards to the topic and website development is strong, primarily because the website is linked to
an accredited academic institution and the author of the site is a renowned professor of the subject matter. Van Helden mentioned in the introduction to the site that he
integrated a variety of source material from experts on the history of Galileo and from colleagues in the fields of history and science. In terms of the overall
credibility and the accuracy of the site, the age of the site brings into question the possibility that new source material may be valuable to maintaining the accuracy of the
cite. Van Helden does cite a number of academic sources for material for his study of Galileos family and his work, including book sources by Hale, Cochrane and Biagioli,
who have published sources on this subject. Though the author of the cite lists these sources in the materials used for the site, he does not integrate s,
making it difficult to determine to whom the information is attributable. The purpose of this site is educational and informational, and as a result, the fact that the site
