French Revolution. the European Renaissance occurred between the 14th and 17th centuries. It was a cultural movement with revelations in intellectual life. Great philosophers and scientists began questioning things. Artists
of all kinds were sponsored by wealthy families, like the Medicis, the dominant family in Florence. Lorenzo de Medici also sponsored Michelangelo who painted the Sistine Chapel and much more.
One of the philosophies prominent during the renaissance was neo-Platonism. This philosophy also had a great influence on Michelangelos work The Age of Enlightenment or Reason began in the
18th century. It was an intellectual movement wherein the thinkers of those decades were committed to more secular views that would be based on reasoning. The most extreme during this
movement used science and natural philosophy in their attempts to understand nature and destiny. It spread throughout Europe, the American colonies and Great Britain. This movement ended with the French
Revolution but not before it influenced revolutions and declarations of independence. Humanism emerged during the Age of Reason. A group of professional teachers who focused entirely on studia humanitatis at
