to realize, perhaps once again, that this period is one of great importance. It is a period of time when the child is going through, not only cognitive and psychological
growth, but physiological growth as well. All of these factors combine to alter the child as they become individuals who possess more memory, more cognitive abilities, more ability to reason,
and many other realities. In Sameroff and Haiths book we are given many different essays on various subjects concerning this period of growth. The essays are presented by different professionals
who focus on the aspect of the five to seven-year-old child in different ways. In the following paper we present an examination of some of the chapters, providing a brief
overview of some of the contents of the book. Part 1 Introduction 1. Interpreting Developmental Transitions In this first section, something of a explanation and something of an
introduction, we note that the authors are indicating the extent of their focus on the child aged 5 to 7 who is going through some incredibly important developmental stages. The
book opens with a discussion of how a 7 year old child could come home in tears and claim that someone informed them Santa Claus does not exist. The child,
upon hearing that this is right, logically associates the same truth with the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. The authors illustrate that this is a sort of developmental growth
that occurs in the 5 to 7 year shift. The authors then go on to illustrate that the authors of the essays they have compiled were asked to reflect on
