For the first five years the of company focuses merely on video compression technology, and entered this games software market in 1995. Since then results have been volatile. In looking at the 2001 results, the company performance of the preceding year can be assessed and the influences in the industry at that time are reflected. The company had seen profits rise in proceeding years, but in 200 there had been a loss. This continued into 2001. The gross profit was a positive figure of ?61,771, however the operating profit was -? 57,289 and with a loss of ? 36,308 on investment this along with investments payments and other adjustment to a total loss of ?97,329 on ordinary activities for the year 2001 (Edios, 2001). By looking at the years performance and the reason behind that performance there are some patterns that emerge. In 2001 Eidos launch twenty new games, some titles that were original planned for release in this year were delayed until the next year. During the 2001 accounting period there was a time of turmoil. The games were made for different gaming formats, but the market had slowed down due to the release of new gaming formats (Eidos, 2001).
