more young women and women involved in active crimes, and more women being sent to prison for such crimes. In "The Female Offender: Girls, Women and Crime" by Meda Chesney-Lind
and Lisa J. Pasko the authors examine many different areas of this subject. The following paper reports on their book. "The Female Offender" by Chesney-Lind and Pasko
In the beginning of the book the authors note that in the day of the Girls Club of America has a motto that states
"Todays Girls are Tomorrows Women" (Chesney-Lind; Pasko, 2003; 1). The authors then set off to illustrate that such a slogan indicates that there was, and is, clearly a call to
pay attention to the women of tomorrow. But yet, "Somehow in all the concerns about the situation of women and womens issues during the second wave of feminism, the girls
got forgotten" (Chesney-Lind; Pasko, 2003; 2). Their book seeks to figure out what the situations are involving girls and women today that makes
them a growing population in the world of crime and incarceration. The first section of the book deals with such things as "Trends in Girls Arrest" and "Criminalizing Girls Survival:
Abuse, Victimization, and Girls Official Delinquency." In the section on Criminalizing Girls the authors note that, "it has long been known that a major reason for the presence of so
