can be applied to leadership in general in order to help other leaders improve their leadership skills and the results that they achieve.
This is not a new area of consideration and within the business environment has been subject to study for over a century. Looking at the evolution of leadership theory,
form the study of great men to the acceptance of complex interdependent influences there are different ideas concerning what will make a good leader and how they can be measured.
The development of leadership theory may be seen as starting with the concept of personality as a key influence. This is an
area of study that may be divided into two parts; great man and trait theory. The study of headship started by the study of great men in order to identify
their behavior patterns, with the belief that of these were emulated it may lead to great management, this stage of leadership study goes back to the nineteenth century with the
work of Galton and extended into the twentieth century (Borgotta et al, 1954). However, although the study was popular at the time may great leaders were observed as having very
