many important elements required to nurture the economic development of an economy and then to help maintain stability within the economy. A major influence is that of the central banks,
their role and development honed over time to play an essential role due to the powers they have and the ability that most central banks have been able to demonstrate
in terms of their credibility and independence due to the management and public legal pillars on which they are built. Central banks are seen throughout the world, changes are
made, new central banks may emerge, but in general terms they service the same important role of helping g to manage the economy with public management policies that reflect the
political aims within the governments. There is a general trend and expectations that for central banks to function property they requires certain freedoms to set policy and to act independently
of government otherwise credibility and part of the ability and surety they offer is comprised. Two of the largest central banks are the European Central Bank (ECB) and the
Federal Reserve. If we examine the role of these two banks, the way in which they operate with management and policy issues they may originate from very different parts of
the world, but there are many commonalities between the two institutions. To examine this and compare the ECB and the Federal Reserve we need to briefly consider the development
of central banks and the role they played. Wit this we can then look at the two banks. We will examine the ECB first, this has a more chequered past
