many instances in businesses and in daily life when there are such dilemmas. Someone may have a hard time working with someone who is different and sometimes that may impede
progress in a business or personal environment. It is particularly troubling when it involves a counseling or legal environment. What are the ethical issues one might face that pose challenges
to someone who is intervening with another? The issues of course depend upon the circumstance. In respect to interventions regarding issues such as drugs or mental illness, the legal aspects
loom large, but the ethical problems may be ignored. Yet, they are very important. This is because human life is at stake. Also, in a workplace environment, there are additional
concerns and there, ethics also enter the picture. An attorney for example will want to do the best for his client, but many criminal attorneys for instance have trouble with
working with some populations. For example, someone who is a terrorist may be able to obtain a lawyer, but many attorneys will not take the case because they feel they
simply cannot be objective. Similarly, sometimes judges have to recuse themselves. When a lawyer feels his personal distaste for a defendant will prevent him from doing a good job, it
is ethical to avoid the case. Sometimes the answer to such ethical dilemmas is to step down or not get involved with a client. Sometimes, there are ways to ameliorate
a situation. There are things that may be done such as in medication or arbitration. Sometimes, discussion groups can help these types of situations. Some firms provide lectures on sexual
harassment, gender orientation or prejudice. Counseling groups that are a part of the work environment either in a weekly peer group form or though independent guest lectures can help to
