validity of the science and the ethics that are a part of the forensic science model. While the adversarial system that exists supposes that moral virtue will oppose moral vice,
the evidence may not be all that convincing and the truth will not always be revealed. When it comes to ethics, many see virtue and freedom as synonymous. Yet, the
quandary presented in the area of forensic science is that complete freedom and justice may not go hand in hand. When it comes to forensics, there is no agreement
on proper procedures when conducting an investigation (Barnett, 2001). Hence, there is no homogeneity in the process. Someone whose evidence is sent to one lab may be processed very differently
from evidence sent to another. Another problem goes to whether the scientist is unbiased or he is working for the prosecutor. For instance, some forensic scientists are asked to prepare
drug samples to use during a drug bust, and they might be asked to falsify reports to be used during an interrogation (Barnett, 2001). Scientists may have qualms against being
a part of the use of such tactics (Barnett, 2001). In the context of forensic science, other ethical conundrums present themselves. Some questions posed by Barnett (2001) are: "What is
the obligation of the forensic scientist to provide discovery information to opposing counsel? Is that obligation different for criminalists working for law enforcement agencies, or private practices?" (p. 4). One
can begin to see that while forensic science has helped in the scheme of things by setting innocent prisoners free after being wrongly convicted, it can also help to convict
