brought it about? Some say that the problem is all in the mortgage market where bad loans were made to some greedy or ignorant people. But as people watch the
stock market go down, and look at other businesses fold, it seems as if there is a much more widespread phenomenon that is occurring. It is not just a attributable
to a few companies making bad loans. Rather, the entire "trickle down" system is at issue. During the 1980s, there was the idea that cutting taxes, and giving big corporations
breaks was a good thing because in the end, the profits would trickle down to the lowly workers and everyone would benefit. The idea was that the wealth would be
shared. The idea actually worked for a time. Corporate executives would rise to the top. They had a game plan and in the end, they would be successful. While there
would be some people who did not achieve very much, such things were attributed to their lack of talent or intelligence or will. In America, the dream was alive and
anyone who wanted to be successful could. But things changed a great deal since then. Globalization has altered the playing field. Some time ago, when Ross Perot ran for president,
he used the audible symbology of a giant sucking sound, something that would be heard when jobs were sent to Mexico. The Maquilidorias district did have a lot of
problems, and today, there is trouble at the border. Yet, the globalization that would alter the economy is not attributable only to the NAFTA treaty, but to considerable changes in
general. The Internet would revolutionize things too. How does all this figure into the current economic mess? In part, the allowance of a global trade continuum would invite problems.
