Gilgamesh, The Mali Epic of Son-Jara and Don Quixote illustrates the extent to which humanity changes as its intellectual development progresses. The
Epic of Gilgamesh speaks to a collection of powerful elements - fate, determinism, judgment, guilt and heroism - that articulated mans understand of and approach toward his entire existence.
The message imparted through heroism in The Epic of Gilgamesh demonstrates how life is ones own responsibility; instead of leaving all things up to fate, they appeared believe that an
individual has a significant influence upon his own existence. Without assuming responsibility for ones own actions, the world would be nothing if not a jumble of adulterated confusion.
The story illustrates how handing over ones life to the notion of determinism does nothing but eliminates all possible sense of self. A
great deal of maturity and moral development occurs in the storys discourse, the latter of which represented an individuals true value. If one did not possess and constantly nurture
his morality, he was considered inferior in both mind and spirit. Respective to this central theme, Gilgamesh comes to various conclusions with regard to the acceptance of reality, issues
of morality and, perhaps above all, the concept of divine judgment and human guilt. Inasmuch as he derives his conclusions based upon myriad occurrences, one can readily surmise how
the path to enlightenment was paved with this single intention by the readers ability to "gain an overall impression of the free will of man which can fashion its own
