possess some powerful similarities. As one author states, in regards to the Eightfold Path, "Many scholars regard it as comparable, in its tone of moral elevation and historical importance, to
Jesus Christs Sermon on the Mount" (Anonymous Siddhartha Guatama: The Buddha siddhartha.htm). Both were actually sermons delivered by powerfully religious men, and both clearly instructed people about how they should
live. Bearing this in mind we present the following paper which first describes the Eightfold Path and then discusses the Sermon on the Mount. The paper then follows up with
a comparison and contrast of the two. Eightfold Path "The Noble Eightfold Path describes the way to the end of suffering, as it was laid out by Siddhartha
Gautama. It is a practical guideline to ethical and mental development with the goal of freeing the individual from attachments and delusions; and it finally leads to understanding the truth
