heart and soul of an organization happens to subscribe to high ideals in the context of its unique culture. Similarly, social responsibility is something that has become rather important of late. Companies are becoming "green" but critics charge that they do this simply for good public relations. Sometimes, that is the case. Of course, all companies want to make money, but the corporate culture is something that is aligned with an organization so much so, one cannot distinguish the company from its culture. The organizational culture is something that is created. Unlike the general country culture for example, organizational culture is something that can be tweaked and actually formed. It is a part of the way in which an organization behaves. There are positive models such as Google that provides its employees with everything from free food to massages, and Ben & Jerrys which embraces a fair payment scale, but those companies stand out. They are few and far between. Far more people are familiar with the negative model. It is a stereotypical model. It is displayed on television shows such as Greys Anatomy and The Office but this is nothing new. When the television show Bewitched was on the air, Darrin worked for an advertising agency and the entire show centered around the pressures of his job and his ever-present boss Larry Tate. Television of course imitates reality. Today, firms are demanding a lot of time from executives and even low level employees are made to feel guilty if they cannot work an extraordinary amount of overtime. First, it should be said that corporate culture may be aligned with both customer service and social responsibility. It seems as if social responsibility is an umbrella term for other things, inclusive of but not limited to customer service. ...
