on using this paper properly Today, many high school students are urged to get good grades and apply to college. Indeed, competition is fierce, but
some students graduate with four year degrees only to find out that the sheepskin does not effect a positive career. This can happen when students do not receive an effective
education. An effective education occurs when a student is provided with the tools they need in order to hone a career. Without some semblance of a goal, the fledging student
is likely to choose a major based on his schedule, curriculum availability, or his parents wishes. An effective education can lead to a better job with higher pay than
ones peers. Yet, it is hard to know when one is getting an effective education or floundering. This is becuase colleges use marketing techniques to draw people in, and once
the student matriculates, little help is provided. One aspect of an effective education is that it be goal oriented. Students must know what the degree means, and what the educational
training will mean in the outside world. A degree in philosophy or history may be prestigious in the academic community but hardly leads anywhere aside from teaching. In other words,
