determine the different conditions of the grass. One distinct possibility for the difference in the condition of grass between two homes can include different weather conditions, different physical characteristics
of the soil, or differences in needed resources for growth, including water and sunlight. The following is a thought experiment utilized to assess the potential reasons for differences in
grass growth when comparing two lawns. The Research Question When a comparison was made between the grass around my house (House A) and the grass around my neighbors
house (House B), there were clear differences. The grass surrounding House A was short, brown and dead, while the grass surrounding House B was tall, green and alive.
The research question for a thought experiment based on these facts would be: Why wont grass grow tall and green around House A? This broad question supports the
development of a number of possibilities that can be used to create a hypothesis. Some of the possible reasons that the grass grows better in one area than
in another in such close proximity could be because of differences in the way in which the grass is treated. The owner of House B might use fertilizer, while
the owner of House B may not. The soil conditions might also differ. The owner of House B may water his grass regularly while the owner of House
A does not. The soil at House B may be richer than the soil at House A. Any one of these possibilities could be used as the basis
for the hypothesis. The Hypothesis The hypothesis of this study is: If grass is watered on a daily basis, it will grow longer and greener
