in terms of transatlantic relations are gradually shifting, particularly as it respects the United States. For one, the new currency reduces Europes dependency on the dollar. The EU is afforded
autonomy through the introduction of the Euro, but Europe is still dependent upon the U.S. military and the U.S. needs Europe for support. Clearly, there is an intimate relationship between
the European Union and the United States. There is a particularly strong relationship between Britain and the U.S. because of terrorism and the worlds fight against it. The Euro
impacts present Transatlantic regions as well as security. The Euro has to some extent altered the global economic balance. In other words, prior to the advent of the Euro, there
was a particular situation in terms of economic prowess. The U.S. has for quite awhile--at least since the demise of the Soviet Bloc--been the leading world power. Now, Europe is
reuniting and at least trying to become a significant economic power. The Euro to an extent cements that trend. Once the U.S. was the most significant player. Now, this new
united Europe has a chance to regain its dominance. Europe is at least psychologically in a better position than it was before. With the new currency, there is fear that
the EU will focus on trade over security issues. In the past, Europe has had a lot of problems and World War I and II are both indictors of this.
Certainly, Europe should be worried about security, even in a post-Cold War era. The introduction of the Euro would change the way the world is viewed. Currently, the European countries
