For the most part, while this developing country is looked at by the rest of the world as immoral, others believe that the developed countries are the ones that should
share the blame for Thailands state. What is the problem in Thailand exactly? The sex trade thrives in the region and Thailand is notorious for its prostitutes, including those who
are underage. While the women and girls sell their bodies so they can live, large corporations are making money off of cheap labor too. To many who oppose globalization, it
is the evil west that has turned these small developing nations into undesirable places. At the same time, Thailand is not completely as it is stereotyped to be. It is
true that prostitution is rampant, but that is not due to the lure of easy money as it is in the United States. Rather, these women are practically forced into
the lifestyle. Many who have studied tourism have noticed that men have been attracted to Thailand and that attraction is mostly due to the amount of sex available to
them in that region. The government has not taken a firm hand, despite the fact that many behaviors associated with prostitution are illegal, as they do not want to lose
revenue. Prostitutes are one of the many amenities that travelers can expect. The government fears that a tough policy would scare away potential visitors. While government fears seem to run
the small nation, something else has erupted to instill fear into Thailands red light district, as well as in its visitors. That new fear is not a fear of losing
tourism. Rather, it is the fear of AIDS. As the AIDS epidemic affects Thailand, prostitutes die off. Tourists are afraid that they too will become victimized by the dreaded disease.
