are like the angels, and they are Gods children by being children of the resurrection," (Luke 20:36) attesting, not only to the belief of a blissful spiritual existence, but also
to the belief that there will be a second resurrection of the righteous after the Battle of Armageddon. Further testimony to this belief is stated in the Book of John,
"Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He that believes in me, even though he dies, will come to life," (John 11:25)
Christians worldwide accompany Christ in his passion and rejoice in his resurrection as his personal triumph over death. He has been glorified, his integrity restored and magnified, and they, in
their turn, hope to share in this victory. This victory is in stark contrast to the idea of Hell in which the disembodied soul is cut off from others and
cut off from God. Hell is the place where God is absent, where there is neither faith nor hope nor love. It is the experience of sin in its essence,
of the "second death," the experience of the absence of God and thus of a meaninglessness without light. (Ryan, 1997) Aspects of Jesus redemptive incarnation
- the sacrificial and the propitiatory aspects, and the resurrection itself - have come into sharper focus, for the physical resurrection of Christ was the effective sign of his triumph
