Essay / Research Paper Abstract
5 pages in length. One of the most frightening aspects of giving children free access to the Internet is that many times pornographic sites are reached purely by accident. A child in search of the latest doll or video game will insert the word "toy" into the search engine and inadvertently pull up adult sex toy sites. Whether or not they understand the location to which they have arrived is not the issue; rather, the fact that there are no differentiating criteria to prevent the cross-reference in the first place is what needs to be focused upon. Given a child's inherent curiosity, there would not be too many who would overlook the opportunity to click on a link or two to appease their fascination. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

other than criminal reports that demonstrates the negative effects pornography has upon children, there are myriad statistics that show how adults suffer from its adverse impression. One would have
to wonder why such findings cannot also be pertinent to children, who are even more impressionable and na?ve than their older counterparts. It cannot be readily argued that children
are old enough to discern between acceptable and deviant behavior. A child of five who is watching a woman have sex with a dog would not understand that to
be a highly inappropriate social activity; the next thing she may do is approach her own family pet in the same manner. Imprinting such impressions upon the brain of
children not yet old enough to even grasp the concept of sex only serves to distort the childs image of normalcy. As well, it cannot be expected that the
children will be able to shake off the images once instructed as to their inappropriateness (Welch, 1998). Children are visual beings who "form
