Health care is something that should be available to everyone. At the same time, it isnt logical to expect to receive free
health care. Everyone should be responsible for paying for the services that they need but these services should be made more affordable so that that is feasible. This
is where the government should play a more positive role in health care. An astounding percentage of our nations populace does not have
adequate health care. Unfortunately, healthcare is too often doled out in accordance with ones relative societal standing. The less fortunate in our society are not always one of
the recipients. While we have programs in place that provide free health care to many of our nations underprivileged, others fall through the cracks. Universal health care should,
however, rightly be viewed as a needed societal infrastructure. This is particularly true when we consider the costs of unchecked disease, lost days at work, and lost productivity overall.
We should insure that everyone in our society not only has access to but the ability to pay for adequate healthcare. In his 2012 State of the Union
Address, President Obama even went as far as to contend that health care should be available to the young, the old, the uninsured, the underinsured, and illegal immigrants alike just
