short, diversity in the workplace, and in society, is a very urgent topic today that can spell success or disaster for any individual. In William Sonnenscheins work Diversity Toolkit: How
You Can Build and Benefit from a Diverse Workforce the reader is instructed on the importance of this issue and how to best deal with the reality. The following paper
offers a reaction and analysis of the work. The Diversity Toolkit In the beginning of his work Sonnenschein (1999) points out
some facts concerning one corporation, stating that, "During the last ten years, every level of CG Department Stores has seen an increase in the number of women and people of
color. The mail room, once totally male, is not 40 percent female" (Sonnenschein, 1999; 1). He also illustrates how the middle management of this corporation, comprised of entirely all white
people, is not comprised of "20 percent people of color" (Sonnenschein, 1999; 1). Considering that this work was written almost 10 years ago allows the reader to assume that such
percentages and numbers are even more complex and diverse today. And, while it may come as no surprise that such numbers exist, the point is to clearly recognize this truth
