is usually forgiven. A spouse or neighbor will understand. If one calls his wife or neighbor a "bitch" for example, the individual on the receiving end may feel bad, but
will get over it. Other behaviors are tolerated in the home because the people with whom one lives loves them and has the capacity to forgive. However, the same types
of behavior should not be tested out at work. It is possible that for example, the same behavior where one becomes angry and calls another person a "bitch" may result
in severe discipline and possible dismissal. Much depends on the industry and the environment in which one works, but generally, such behavior is not tolerated in the workplace. There are
of course exceptions to the rule where people are more familiar with one another. A group of men in a firehouse as shown on Rescue Me demonstrates that all types
of behavior is tolerable. While such behavior is only tolerated to an extent, the men in the firehouse are quite intimate in terms of discussion and they do sometimes call
each other names. A fight may break out. Yet, they get over it. Other types of environments where men work do on occasion invite more personal discussions and verbal altercations
are somewhat acceptable. Interestingly, on that show, a woman came on board and the problems with the relaxed atmosphere were suddenly viewed quite differently. She did not like the idea
that the men would continually make fun of people and she was the subject of torment. When one man called her something worse than a bitch, things became quite volatile.
