more information on using this paper properly! Biology, the study of life on earth, is fundamentally a study of complexity. While all life may have evolved from a singular
common ancestor, the path that evolution has taken since this origin point has allowed life to diversify into millions of different forms, each uniquely adapted to their own environments in
critical ways that sustain their long-term survival. However, with diversity comes competition and it is often the case that ecosystems are sustained by the destruction of one form of life
at the expense of another. This can be seen in obvious forms, such as the lion taking down a gazelle in order to feed its young, but its also applicable
to the human condition as well. In order to build the lifestyle that humans currently enjoy as the dominant species on the planet, humans have had to exact destruction upon
various other forms of life. For instance, when humans clear an area of forest in order to develop that land, this destroys entire ecosystems, as creatures that once used that
forest as a home or hunting grounds are now left with nothing. However, there are some arguments that the destructive capacity of humans far exceeds that of other species, to
the extent that humans warrant an especial distinction of being "the most destructive force affecting populations of life on earth". This might seem at first an extreme statement, but an
examination of the issues reveals that humans may well in fact be the most destructive force upon populations, comparatively speaking. This destructive capacity can be most readily seen beginning with
