paper properly! The horrors of war have been reflected in a large variety of movies. One of the more moving
of these is "The Deer Hunter". "The Deer Hunter" is the story of three young friends that leave their lives in industrial Pennsylvania to serve in the U.S. military
in Vietnam. This movie uses their experiences, and the violence that is encapsulated into those experiences, to emphasize the amorality of war.
"The Deer Hunter" is a direct response to the horrors that our soldiers experienced in Vietnam. While the individuals and the experiences this film portrays are fictional, they
are too close to the experiences that were endured by real life soldiers and their families. Those experiences have been translated in film to bring home the realities of
war to the American public, to fortify the antiwar ideology that characterized the years encompassed by the Vietnam war and that followed. The
Vietnam War is one of the more sensitive parts of American history. There are as many opinions on the war and there are individuals who either remember it or
have hand one reason or another to study it. Americans themselves, in fact, held anything but a common view in regard to our involvement in the war. Consequently
their regard for the American soldiers that fought there varied as well. It seems that the majority, however, resent the war and the amorality that it represents.
