As such when looking at the commercial world and the way in which decision are made there are the same processes, which may be framed in different ways and analysed with various tools (Klein et al, 2002). When considering decision making we first need to define what is meant. Here the making of a decision may be defined as a process that takes place when there are different courses of action available which will meet a goal or goals. Managerial decision making is the process in its entity and synonymous with the management process. To appreciate the process and the different tools that may be used the different categories of decision making need to be appreciated. At the lower level there are operational decisions. These are the decision that are made on a daily basis, decisions such as scheduling and control. Generally, these decisions will be highly structures, and in many ways they may be supported by software or be seen to resemble that is a rule based system. The next level is the management level.
